Fair & Ethical Trading Information
The owner of Poncheros Clothing and Accessories has worked with ethical suppliers for the past 20 years.
During this time there has been an increase in public interest for ethically sourced, ecologically sound, and fair-trade products. Many of the suppliers and importers we work with are members of BAFTS (The British Association for Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers) and are BAFTS recognised Fair Trade importers.
Our suppliers have established good and long-lasting relationships with their producers. Most of the producers are small family businesses employing only a few people so our suppliers try to keep them in continuous work and to also help develop new products with them thus enabling their businesses to grow alongside ours.
In most cases, our suppliers pay their producers for orders in advance, thus preventing them from possibly having to borrow money to start the order. Prices are agreed rather than imposed. There is absolutely no exploitation of children nor discrimination against gender. They try to ensure that working conditions are good by local standards and that raw materials are from renewable resources.
We hope that by trading with our suppliers and their producers, we are helping them to achieve economic self-sufficiency, whilst simultaneously bringing to our customers the skills and crafts of other cultures.
